Youth MinistryAt Cornerstone Castle Rock, our vision is to equip generations to follow Christ. This includes the Junior High and Senior High students.
In the Hebrew culture, a child moved to adulthood at the age of 12 for females and 13 for males. We see the need for teens to begin to function with more independence and autonomy, and view teens as "adults in progress" rather than "older children." Youth Ministry should focus on helping teens grow spiritually so their faith is their own and not merely the faith of their parents, teachers, or pastors. This involves challenging them to think critically about what they believe so they can internalize the biblical principles they have learned. It is important to give teens progressive responsibility in making choices and participating in ministry so they can actively live out their faith. As part of this growth process, teens need their parents as well as others to be involved in their spiritual life. While the church is not the primary spiritual caretaker, the church can assist parents in the spiritual training of their young men and woman. A primary role of our Youth Ministry is to equip, encourage and support parents in the process of discipling their teens. We want to provide an environment and program where youth can process and personalize their faith as they grow physically, intellectually, socially, emotionally and spiritually. This involves small groups and activities where the teens can develop friendships with other Christians. We have separate Junior High and Senior High youth groups. Each group meets every other week - see the church calendar for details. In addition, the teens have special activities such as:
The teens have also participated with adults in service and outreach activities:
